Terms of Service

Effective July 11, 2026

These terms govern your use of Samong ("Samong", "we", "us"), the visual knowledge management service at samong.app. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. Please read them — they are written to be clear, not clever.

1.The service

Samong is a web-based application for organizing your knowledge on an infinite whiteboard: notes live as linked cards, PDFs become extractable sources, and ideas connect into mindmaps. We provide the software and hosting; you provide the thinking.

We are continuously improving Samong. Features may be added, changed, or removed over time. We will not knowingly remove a feature you paid for during the term you paid for it.

2.Your account & acceptable use

You need an account to use Samong. You can sign up with an email address and password, or with Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old — or older where your local law sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services — and if you are not old enough to form a binding contract on your own, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.

When using Samong, you agree not to:

  • Break the law, or use Samong to store or share unlawful content.
  • Infringe anyone else’s intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Attempt to breach, probe, or disrupt our security, infrastructure, or other users’ workspaces.
  • Resell, sublicense, or abuse the service in a way that degrades it for others (for example, automated bulk abuse).
  • Upload malware or use Samong to distribute it.

3.Plans, billing & refunds

Samong offers a Free plan and a Pro plan ($8/month, or $72/year when billed annually). From time to time we may offer promotional or founding-member discounts; any such discount applies on the terms stated when it is offered, and a subscription purchased under promotional pricing keeps that price for the life of the subscription. Plan features and limits are described on our pricing page. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes. In Thailand, you can also pay for annual plans in Thai baht via PromptPay QR.

All payments are processed by Stripe, our payment processor; we do not see or store your full card details. Card subscriptions are billed in advance and renew automatically at the end of each term unless you cancel beforehand from your account settings. PromptPay QR payments work differently: they purchase a one-time annual pass that does not renew automatically — we will remind you before it runs out. If a renewal payment fails, we keep your paid features for a short grace period while we retry and notify you; if payment still cannot be collected, your workspace moves to the Free plan. You never lose your content by being downgraded.

You can cancel anytime; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep paid features until then. If you are unhappy with a paid plan, contact [email protected] within 14 days of a charge and we will work with you on a refund. Refunds are otherwise at our discretion and prorated refunds are not guaranteed. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory refund or cancellation rights you have under the consumer-protection law of your country.

4.Your content

Everything you create or upload in Samong — cards, whiteboards, PDFs, and notes — remains yours. We claim no ownership over your content. You grant us only the limited permission needed to host, back up, sync, and display your content so the service can function for you and the collaborators you invite.

We believe you should never be locked in. You can export your content at any time — notes as markdown and whiteboards as PNG, SVG, or PDF — in open formats you can take elsewhere.

5.Sharing & collaboration

Samong lets you share your work with others — by inviting members into your workspace, or by creating a share link to a specific board with view-only or edit access. You decide what to share and can revoke a share link at any time. Anyone with an active share link can access that board, so treat links to sensitive boards with the same care as the content itself.

You are responsible for the content you share, and collaborators are responsible for what they contribute. If someone shares a board with you, their content remains theirs, and the access they grant you ends when they stop sharing it.

6.AI features

Samong offers optional AI features — turning a PDF into a mindmap, summarising it into a card, chatting with it, and translating extracted text or regions. These run on a third-party AI provider: when you use an AI feature, the text you select is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate the result. If you never use these features, none of your content is sent to the AI provider.

AI output is generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. It is not professional advice. Treat it as a starting point, review it before you rely on it, and use your own judgement — you are responsible for how you use what the AI produces.

The acceptable-use rules above apply to AI features too. In particular, do not use them to generate unlawful, infringing, or harmful content, to attempt to extract other people’s data, or to probe or reverse-engineer the underlying models.

AI features are metered. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of AI credits, shown in the app, and we may apply reasonable rate or volume limits to keep the service available and to prevent abuse. They are intended for normal interactive use within the product, not automated or bulk processing.

You keep ownership of the content you submit to an AI feature. As between you and us, any output the AI returns to you is yours to use, subject to the AI provider’s terms; we claim no ownership of it. Because of how these models work, outputs are not unique — others may receive similar results from similar prompts.

7.Service availability

We work hard to keep Samong fast and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. There may be downtime for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8.Copyright complaints

We respect intellectual property rights and expect the same from our users. If you believe content stored or shared through Samong infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with the details: the work being infringed, where the infringing material is (a share link or other identifier), and how we can contact you. We review complaints promptly and may remove or disable access to infringing content. Accounts that repeatedly infringe will be terminated.

9.Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, that pose a security or legal risk, or that remain inactive for an extended period. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to export your data first.

10.Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Samong is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose — your export tools make this easy. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, or affects statutory rights you have as a consumer.

11.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand, and disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Thailand. If you use Samong as a consumer, this does not take away protections granted to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live, or your right to bring a dispute before your local courts where that law gives you one.

12.General

These terms are the entire agreement between you and us about Samong and replace any earlier agreements. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies, and not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may assign ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Neither of us is liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond reasonable control.

If your breach of these terms causes us loss or exposes us to a claim from someone else, you agree to compensate us for the reasonable costs that directly result.

These terms are published in English and Thai. The two versions are intended to say the same thing; if they ever diverge, the English version prevails, except where the law of your country requires otherwise.

13.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Samong evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Samong after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
